FAQ

What is a preorder?
A preorder is when we collect orders in advance. We then give this order to our supplier for the item to be produced. Once the item is produced, it is then shipped to us.
What is an “ETA”?
Simply put, this means “Estimated Time of Arrival”. This is the estimated time from the time a preorder closes, until we expect to have the order delivered to us. Most turn around time is between 2-6 weeks. We work with suppliers who have excellent reputations for timely orders. You can always look for updates in our Facebook group.
Why should I preorder? Can’t I just wait until it is in stock?
Preordering is always a benefit to you! Why? Two reasons:
1. You know you will be getting the best price in preorder.
2. You know the item and size you need will be in stock!
We will have some items in stock or extras from certain preorders, but there is NO guarantee that we will have that particular style and size, unless you jump in on that preorder and claim your beauty!
Will all preorders ALWAYS be completed?
No. While this is a very unlikely event, there will be circumstances that come up that may prevent us from completing a preorder (item not making production). In the event that this happens, we will reach out to you and keep you informed. Your satisfaction is always our number one priority.
Why do the preorder photos sometimes look like a cartoon drawing?
These are called “mock ups”. These are what have been designed using computer software. While most orders will look VERY close to the mock up, there can be slight variations, such as: slight color variations, sizing of appliqué/embroidery, or slight variations in pattern. Please know that these slight variations will never be far off. If for any reason we see there will be a dramatic shift from the design mock up, you will be contacted to verify if you would like to continue with your order.
Can I return an item if it doesn’t fit?
Due to the nature of preorders, all sales are final. If you receive your item and have noticed a manufactures defect, you will have 3 days to contact us at info@thesouthernsprout.com. If you are unhappy with an item, we will do everything we can to make it right.
Are there any special care instructions for smocked items?
It is recommended to pretreat smocked items in a mixture of 75% white vinegar and 25% water. Soak the item for 4-6 hours. This will help lock in the color and prevent bleeding. Red and brown are unfortunately known to bleed at times. Once you have soaked, you will wash the garment in cold water on delicate cycle. It is highly recommended to use a color catcher in the wash. (These are found in the laundry isle and will absorb dyes in the wash water). Always wash your smocks either by hand, or in cold water on delicate. Never put them in the dryer. You always want to hang or lay flat to dry.
